The Agnew Analog Reference Instrument Type 631 is a high performance direct drive motor, offering 2 Nm of torque at 33 1/3 and 45 rpm, for professional
disk mastering lathes and turntables.

It is a reliable unit capable of continuous operation in industrial manufacturing environments, yet packing the finesse expected in critical listening spaces and audiophile mastering environments.

It is an upgrade over the Lyrec SM-8 (used to drive the platter of the Neumann VMS-70 lathe) and can be used to convert pretty much any lathe to direct drive, along with the range of Agnew Analog high performance lathe driveline and precision workholding components.

The Type 631 motor can be used with the Type 231 control module.

It can be purchased together with the Agnew Analog Type 612 disk mastering lathe or separately.
