Electronics Engineering Technologist

Kate Agnew grew up in northern British Columbia. She was awarded a Citytel scholarship for technology studies and graduated from the College of New Caledonia in Prince George, BC, Canada, earning a Diploma with Honours in Electronics Engineering Technology. Committed to lifelong learning, Kate has taken a course in C/C++ For Programmers at Athabasca University, a Linux/Unix Command Line and Fundamentals of AutoCAD course at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT), and a Facilitation Skills Workshop at TELUS NLD.

She has held a diverse set of positions in the Industrial Electronics, Automation Control Systems and Telecom industries. Indicatively, she worked as a Programmer Analyst at Cranesmart Systems, as an Electronics Technician at Spartan Conrols, as an Electronics Engineering Technologist at Tyco Thermal Controls (now Pentair), and as a Service Technician and Network Technician at TELUS Communications. Her career at TELUS started with climbing poles and installing services, moving on to becoming a team lead, involved in the mentorship programme, progressing to the Master Control Department, overseeing all incoming cable feeds and internet infrastructure in Edmonton, AB, Canada. 

She has a classical music education, playing the flute from the age of 11 and performing in a classical music ensemble. Soon thereafter she picked up the saxophone and was involved in the jazz band at the Charles Hays Secondary School in Prince Rupert, BC, Canada.

She is an avid vinyl record collector, purchasing her first record when she was 12 years old, and a keen photographer, specializing in nature and landscape photography.

Kate Agnew is a member of the Institute for Electrical and Electronics Engineering (IEEE).
